Riverstation Bristol & Clifton Suspension Bridge | Carmel & Matt | Part 2
After marrying at St. Bonaventure’s R C Church in Bristol, Carmel & Matt headed off together in their wedding car to visit one of Bristol’s most iconic landmarks; Clifton Suspension Bridge.
Clifton Suspension Bridge Wedding Photos
This is a very popular spot in Bristol for wedding photographs and I bumped into one of my wedding photographer friends there waiting for his bride and groom to turn up too!
Carmel & Matt had arranged to arrive at their wedding reception at the Riverstation Bristol by boat. I had visions of Matt rowing across the harbour with his bride perched in a rowing boat, but the boat they had found was much grander.
This was a brilliant idea. Often the wedding couple arriving at their venue is a non-event, as they typically arrive first and then disappear off for some pictures while their guests transfer to the reception venue… then discretely re-join the party with little or no fan-fair.
Our diversion to The Clifton Suspension Bridge for wedding couple photos gave the wedding guests sufficient time to transfer from St. Bonaventure’s RC Church to Riverstation Bristol, grab a drink and assemble on the patio overlooking the jetty on the harbour side, ready for their arrival. This allowed Carmel & Matt to make a grand entrance to a warm welcome from all their guests to start celebrating their marriage. It made for some excellent pictures too!
Riverstation, Bristol is a superb restaurant and wedding venue. I took my fiancée Tif out for a meal there, shortly before Carmel & Matt’s wedding, and we both loved the food. I can’t recommend it enough. The wedding breakfast meal was outstanding too. There is definitely merit to the idea of getting married in your favourite restaurant.
During a break between finishing the meal and starting the speeches I was able to arrange for a whole wedding party group shot, taken from the other side of Bristol harbour, with all the guests assembled on the balcony of Riverstation Bristol (see image at the top of this post). This is one of my favourite pictures from their wedding, showing off Riverstation as a wedding venue and the happy guests.
I’ve been privileged to hear some hilarious best man speeches this year. Matt’s pair of best men did not disappoint, especially with references to #Progress – Matt’s training regime mirror-selfie, printed on a t-shirt for all to see. I do worry what relics from my past my own best man may find for his speech…
Carmel & Matt have a fab group of friends; quick to fill the dance floor and generally happy throughout the day. Happy guests make for good pictures and I was happy to stay late into the evening to capture some of the celebrations and antics for them.
Part of the good mood and bonne amie may well be down to the excellent service from Riverstation Bristol. If you’re planning a wedding there, I’d love to photograph it for you.
